ZENA PALMER IS A PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN WHO OFFERS TUITION IN PIANO, SINGING AND MUSIC THEORY. 

Music is my passion and I want to try to instill that love into each student that enters their lesson. Everyone is different and I nurture them all in different ways to bring out their individual strengths and provide tuition that suits their own personal goals.

Zena began her musical journey at the tender age of 7 playing piano.
She was soon accepted to the Royal Irish Academy of Music on Westland Row where she studied under Mr Peter Dains there and privately until she was 18.

During this time, Zena was also taught by Anna Groves in Kilcullen who helped her to achieve her RIAM grade 8 at 13 and also provided the necessary theory tuition which enabled Zena to go and sit her ABRSM grade 8 at 17.

At 11, Zena began playing violin and taking singing lessons in Herbert Lodge Music School in the Curragh.
Here, she was taught violin by Yvonne Bolger and Christian Tecklenborg and was an active member or their Youth Orchestra and actually became a member of County Kildare Orchestra in her 20's
Zena's love for singing and natural talent became apparent quite quickly and she thrived under the tuition and guidance of Philomena Breslin and as she became more advanced, Patricia McCarry, a renowned opera singer where she completed RIAM grade 8. Zena competed and won various titles in Feis Ceoil and Arklow Music Festival.

Throughout her school days in Cross and Passion College, Kilcullen, Zena was a very active member of school life with regards to music, involved in occasions such as school masses performing as a soloist, school orchestra, various musical productions in which she sang with the orchestra and also assisted the musical director. She also played in various bands.

Zena entertained guests in her parents restaurant and this also led to her being in demand for weddings and events.

In her teens, Zena developed a huge love for traditional Irish Music and began to sing in that style for many years. She met her husband Bryan, an uilleann piper at 16 and their mutual love for music has seen them since have two boys who are equally musical!

When Zena was 17, she had the wonderful opportunity to record a solo album, accompanied by some of Austrias finest musicians entitled Zena. She performed to hundreds, had various TV appearances and this experience really helped her to develop her craft.

With over 20 years teaching experience, Zena now teaches students from her own home in Lusk, North County Dublin.
She provides tuition in piano, voice and music theory and helps students to sit their graded exams with RIAM. She also assists in taking people throught the practical side of the Leaving and Junior Certificate.
Zena has diverse taste and varied experience which helps her to be able to advise in many different areas, whether classcal, traditonal, musical theatre or pop.

She prides herself in teaching students to become all round musicians, providing theory lessons alongside the practical aspect which she feels is essential from the very start to ensure a greater understanding of the musical language as a whole.

Zena's passion is music and it shows in her dedication and enthusiasm when it comes to teach and perform.

Zena completed her dipABRSM in Instrumental Teaching in 2018, passing with Distinction.
